The Quiet Before Photography is a section of our blog where we forget about glasses and sunglasses to focus on emerging or established photographers, whose work inspire us in our daily life and during our creative process.
Today we got in touch with Los Angeles born and raised Lou Noble, one of the most talented portraitist around, for a friendly chat about his photographic work.
Lou’s life circles around Los Angeles: he lives there, works there as medic for film sets and most of his pictures are shot there, taking advantage of the perfect natural sun light pervading 300 days a year and the unique backgrounds.
When he told us that he has never been away from LA for more than 30 days, we were quite shocked. Being obsessed by travels, we couldn’t understand how you can spend an entire life in one place, without escaping every time you can, without feeling the need of meeting people from different cultures, seeing different things… but then it hit us. That’s exactly what Los Angeles is.
Los Angeles is the world in one city, it is hundreds of cultures in one place, it is thousands of perfect photo backgrounds within driving distance and Lou, with his photography, is portraying not just the subjects of his pictures, but the essence of this indescribable city that he understand “like almost nothing else”.
Lou started to take pictures in his early twenties, like many of us, to document his youth experiences, but this hobby quickly grew into a real passion, a nearly insatiable need that pushed him to set up shooting session as often as possible and that lead to an impressive collection of beautiful shots, among which close up portraits of people stand out as his signature move.
Despite he confesses to lack interest in fashion, most of his pictures display and enhance perfect examples of street fashion and unique styles that have inspired us more than one time during our daily work life, making him an unaware fashion messenger.
Here's a (not-so-brief) guide to make your sunglasses a lifetime companion.
